The Road to Shanghai’d

Meet the owner's Dave and Jennifer Hay. Dave being a fireman for 26 years had always aspired to own his own bar, but not just any bar. A place where a quality drink and experience could be had. Their story begins in 2016 when Dave’s dream opportunity became a reality by attaining ownership of the World Famous Shanghai’d Room. Along the way, he came to meet Jennifer and discovered her 10yr seasoned passion for craft cocktail creation. Thereafter she came to work for Dave. Love was found and they became inseparable! 

However, till this point, the bar only served beer and wine and had a shadowy history on this corner of Beach Blvd. Undeniably this was a struggle for them both, but Dave and Jennifer had a bigger vision in mind. This was going to take time, but their vision became their mission.

After 3 years of striving to bring quality service and jumping through massive hurdles, their full liquor license acceptance finally came in July of 2019! With the drive of intention and keeping the Karaoke Bar & Lounge vibe, they turned around the Shanghai’d Room to make it what it is today. Shanghai’d is more than just a Dive. It’s a refuge for the leisure seeker. A safe haven where the crazy of the world is left at the door, and a place where a consistent quality drink is made just for you.
